In this bonus Rosscast I bitch about how bad music is nowadays and the few people I think can save it. I also squeeze in a suggestion for all women and what to do with their hair. Enjoy!
Luther Vandross didn't pee on ANYBODY!!! I CONCUR! Seriously, though, the whole coochie music-producing fad didn't surprise me. I'm amazed it took producers THIS long to market music designed for straight-to-the-club-fodder. Where's theres money, there will be oversaturated, crappy, marginalized art.
The music that's on MTV and the radio makes me feel old. But then I've felt like that since I was in my early twenties. Most so-called R&B sounds the same to me. That's most of what's in the charts over here now. It's so depressing.
At this point, I just ignore everything til five years after it's released. I figure that's a reasonably good way of getting rid of the chaff.
Hair is FUN. I hate that it doesn't suit me long, I'd love to have all the fun of long hair. *swishes head like a shampoo add*
You want band recommendations -ok, but you'd better be nice...If you don't know them already, The Pogues, which mixes traditional Irish music with rock and punk; like the Dropkick Murphys, but GOOD. Shane MacGowan is an amazing songwriter. Two albums in particular, If I Should Fall From the Grace of God, and Rum Sodomy & The Lash. Also, Therapy?'s first album, Nurse. Duke Special is an interesting and odd guy. Country music? Kris Kristoffersen is your only man. Note this is all oldish stuff, apart from Duke Special.
first of all i've shaved my head twice so i'm way ahead of the game! secondly, i'd like to list some of my favorite musicians... jamiroquai mos def bebel gilberto zap mama fleet foxes q-tip everything but the girl daft punk cinematic orchestra the ting tings the roots seal roy ayers OK. i'll stop.
Thanks, Cam. There are a few on your list that I havent heard of and will check out. And head shaving is the funnest thing on Erf. Excellent time saver. I still have never seen your head shaved though.
