Texas Teacher Smacks Kid

I saw this story about a Texas teacher smacking the shit out of this kids head in class and thought “Oh, this is not the 80's and that won't fly anymore!” as well as “I bet this kid deserved it.” 63 year old teacher Mary Hastings ended up getting arrested after video footage showed her hitting a kid. 

The school district released a statement saying “The Beaumont Independent School District can confirm that an Ozen High School teacher was arrested today for physically assaulting a student. The conduct was substantiated by video footage viewed by BISD police and administration.”

In the video you see the teacher losing her shit on this kid. You can tell that this student had broken this woman. While hitting the kid she shouted “Because you’re stopping him from graduating, you idiot ass!” The kid asks her “Why'd you do that?” and Hastings mocks him seeming to lose her mind. Then the kid laughs at her, smiles at the camera, and goes back to using his own cell phone. Hastings was arrested and booked charged with assault, and released on $2,500 bond later that day. One student stuck up for her saying “You know, we only see twelve seconds of it, that's all it is, that's not the whole thing. I don't want this to ruin her life, I really don't.” A lot of people are posting about this and saying “WHITE teacher attacked BLACK student!” She swipes the papers off his desk, smacks him five times in his afro, and goes crazy. This isn't World Star worthy. I don't think this lady normally goes around doing this kind of shit. I think this one kid in particular just pushed her a bit too far. I don't think she'd ever do something like this again.

“Are you defending someone that hit a child?!” you ask. Yes, you lunatic. Stop screaming at a screen. Back when I was a kid teachers could be rough with kids. Some would hit them. The principal had a paddle in his office and had free reign to smack kids. I never got hit by a teacher though I was pinched by a teachers aid that we ended up getting fired. In hindsight this teacher should have just got this kid the fuck out of her room and told officials that she refuses to have this kid in her classroom. Or contacted the boys parents but I have a feeling that would have done nothing. Kids that act like this tend to have parents that have zero fucks to give. The moral of this whole thing is to not be a teacher.
