Kids These Days 10

I’ve talked about bullies before on a previous Kids These Days. It exists and will always exist in some way or another. Bullies are assholes that pick on people for many different reasons. They think they are tough, they like the feeling of making other people feel like shit, they have low self esteem, or they get their asses kicked at home and fuck it why not beat up someone myself?

Even with all these reasons its never cool to be a bully. There are many ways to combat a bully the one I prefer is just kicking their ass yourself. I understand that not everyone can do it themselves and don’t have parents or siblings that will do it for them like the girl in this story that I’m about to write about. This is a story I found on Yahoo! that is supposed to be inspirational but made me think of all the bad that could come from it.

There’s this girl named Chy Johnson who got picked on in school. She got trash thrown at her and people would generally just be dicks towards her. She also is a special needs student. Yeah. The high school quarterback, a senior named Carson Jones, decided that he and the entire football team would protect her and so far it has worked.

“They’re not mean to me, because all my boys love me so much” Chy said. “They’re not bullying her anymore because they’ve seen her with us or something” Jones told reporters. Now this sounds really nice. An entire football team is sticking up for one girl. Its like the plot of a movie. A movie that is sending the wrong message and will have a terrible ending.

Three cheers for threatening boys!

Now I’m not saying that a special needs student…notice how I’m using the politically correct term and have not once pointed out that she may or may not but most likely have a source of strength that non-special needs people do not have…should be beating the hell out of others at school. She’s fucking handicapped. I say her mother should’ve waited after school with a spiked baseball bat and asked for the offenders to be pointed out. Parents have left far too much of what happens at school up to teachers when we know that like 88% of teachers don’t give a fuck about kids. If that offended you then you’re one of the 10% that do care. The other 2%? Pedos.

The main problem I have with this story and the message it sends is that this team will not always be there to protect her. She will go around thinking that no matter what happens she has a team of people willing to kick ass for her and that is not the case. What happens when she is out of school? Walking down the street? In the bathroom at school? The main bullies are a bunch of girls. What is the football team gonna do? Beat them up?

"Don't worry, mom. Its not my blood."

Hopefully this girl’s mother has told her that life isn’t fair and that bullying will continue into adulthood. People she dates will bully her, co-workers, family members, and strangers on the street. What she needs to be taught is either how to fight or defend herself verbally. Someone needs to explain to her “The world is a mean fucking place and you need to surround yourself with good friends. Not bodyguards.”
