While You Were Sleeping: Jason Spears Shooting

I said it in my last While You Were Sleeping and I'll say it again: you can't just hashtag things and get upset when young Black men are killed by just the police. 12 year old Jason Spears of San Bernardino (on the right) was shot and killed while his 14 year old cousin Terrance Spears was wounded last Sunday night. Jason's aunt had to point out that the boys were not gang affiliated. “We sit at our house. We talk to our neighbors. That's it. Now my sister has to bury her 12-year-old son. For what? Because he went to the store to get some chips?”

At 10pm a dark colored SUV opened fire on the boys. Police are checking all available cameras to get a lead on the shooter. After being shot the boys managed to run to a nearby store. Jason died while Terrance called for help inside the store. Elsa Castro (sometimes listed as Elisa) that was at the store at the time said “I seen the other little boy go inside limping because he was shot in the leg and the other one collapsed right here on his jaw. I turned him over and was telling him, 'Please baby boy, breathe' I just don't understand why they would do this.”

Another issue that is coming out in the wake of this shooting is the response time of law enforcement. Paramedics and firemen are stationed less than 200 feet where the boys were shot but they had to wait about eight minutes for police to arrive which means that was eight minutes the boys were hurt and dying while having no help. I know it sounds crazy, because it is and isn't at once, but during violent crimes you have to wait until police arrive. A lieutenant also pointed out that the fact that there was a shift change during the time of the shooting may have led to a smaller response time. Good information to put out there for criminals. There were also cutbacks a few years ago and their budget was slashed in half.

Fourth Child Problems

I am the fourth child out of five from my parents. Yeah, there is another brother but I've only met him three times and he has a mother I don't know so he is not included in this. I have never bothered to look up any information regarding a personality type based on the spot you were born in. There is always talk of the first child, middle child, and the baby of the family. I was what would be considered the baby socially for ten years of my life but was not even close to being treated as such.

Here is some information that I found about being the fourth child in a family. I am sure that I'll find some stuff to disagree with in this because that is kinda my thing. Maybe its a fourth child thing. You don't know!

“Fourth born children often develop the ability to deal well with people. This is probably a result of having to deal with all of those personality types growing up. They may also be great thinkers and able to manage challenging situations. They may also become analytical, hard workers and they can be pushy or passive.”

Turnt Up Teacher

32 year old kindergarten teacher in Tacoma, Washington Klara Bowman was fired because she was drunk in class because she is a kindergarten teacher which seems like something I'd do if put in her situation. It is being reported that her blood alcohol level was five times the legal limit which means that she was turnt all the way up. When police checked her classroom they found an empty wine bottle and an empty rum bottle. I mean, come on with the come on! This lady sounds fun as hell!

She was to have reportedly sent a message to another teacher saying “I'm an idiot and will likely not step foot into my classroom any time again in the near future. However, I have two bottles that are still stashed in there and I'm so dreading them finding them. Would you be willing to go in my room tomorrow and get them and put them in the garbage!?” Apparently they did not because the shit was found. The assistant principal took Bowman out of class after one of her students reported her after she walked into a wall.

Records say she has worked for the school district since 2008 (which means she was about 24 years old!) and back in 2011 had gotten in trouble for drinking and signed a last chance agreement which I didn't know was a real thing. The principal sent a letter to parents saying “As most of you know, Ms. Bowman has been away from the classroom for the past week. This letter is to let you know that Ms. Bowman will be out for the remainder of the school year.”

Cute Teacher Sexy Time

This 24 year old teacher was arrested for sleeping with a 17 year old student. Her name is Courtney Stewart of Richmond, Virginia and she continues to prove what I say when I say that 24 is too damned young to be teaching. They have not released information about whether the boy was a student of hers or not. Either way 17 year old me is raging with jealousy. 

She was arraigned on March 11th after spending the night in jail. Courtney has a masters in Special Education and Disability Policy which leads me to believe that this was not one of her students. I'm just saying.

She has been teaching since 2013 involving Earth science and biology. She has been suspended without pay after starting teaching at this particular school just last year. The first sexual encounter happened in either late November to December and the second time was last month. 

The school said “While privacy laws prevent us from sharing specific details, we want to reassure our families that Richmond Public Schools takes these allegations very seriously. Incidents of this nature are a direct violation of our district policies and appropriate action will be taken upon a thorough investigation. We appreciate the strong partnership with the Richmond Police Department as we continue to make every effort to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.” Yuh-huh. Sure ya are.

Naked Jackass Stuck In Tree

For more years than I am comfortable to admit I have said that the scariest thing in the world is a naked man. This poor lady named Gail Wilson who also has muscular dystrophy in Oregon lived my nightmare for real when this crazy ass dude 30 year old Steven S. Burton broke into her home. 

She was just chilling at home while her husband and daughter were away and drinking soup when a naked ass Burton appeared out of thin air in her doorway. “He had a big grin on his face. He came walking toward me with his arms open wide. I kept saying 'Get away from me. Get out of my house.'” Instead of leaving he went in for a hug. She used to be a correctional officer so she knew how to handle crazy.

After she shoved his goofy ass away a few times he grabbed her dog and locked himself in the room. “I thought, 'This is it, I'm going to be raped or murdered.' I'd more or less accepted my fate. Today was my day. But I wasn't going to let him take me gently.” She called police and they showed up but Burton had already made it to her shed outside. He ended up climbing a fence and dove off the side of a cliff but police didn't hear a damned splash. I just picture them cupping their hands to their ears and hearing a whistle and then silence...because I grew up watching too many cartoons. Maybe he hit the ground? No such luck. People that break into homes for naked hugs don't hit water. 

While You Were Sleeping: Jamal Gaines

On February 26th Jamal Gaines was shot and killed at a store he owned and ran called East Coast Kickz in Rahway, New Jersey. It bugs me that I didn't hear about this. I didn't know the kid or anything but even though I avoid the news things like Black guys being shot and killed usually make it into my news feeds online somehow. Sadly if its by the hands of police, not each other.

A bit after the store was closed two armed men posing as police officers entered holding guns. Tina Wilson, Gaines' mother, described it as such. “The guy pushed his arm and put the gun to his head, so my son threw a drink on the guy with the gun and ran toward him, and the second guy shot him.” The then ran through an alley and escaped. She also said that someone had been threatening him and his sister. The store will remain open.

Kids These Days 63

There is a new Assembly Bill 2536 that would give schools the right and ability to suspend and expel kids for sexting. Outside of school it is okay but not when at school or some kind of school event. The bill mentions pictures or audio being sent to students, staff, or used for bullying purposes. Assemblyman Ed Chau brought up the bill which about 20 other states already have at least in regard to anti-sexting.

In this new bill they want schools to start talking about sexting in health classes and even the legal issues you'll face for doing it. Some people are saying that stopping students from sexting would be infringing on their civil liberties. Read that again. They are worried that stopping kids from sending sexual texts and nasty shit to each other would be infringing on their civil liberties. I didn't even know you had those as a kid. Being a teenager to me was like some sort of prison work release program. By the way, you know what would've happened to me if if I got kicked out of school for sexting?

Fake Teen Doctor Arrested Again

You know that 18 year old kid that I wrote about that got in trouble for impersonating a doctor? Well, in that post (click here to read that and here for one from the previous year) I mentioned some checks he may or may not have stolen and used from a patient that was being put on an ambulance. It seems the chickens have come to roost! Malachi Love-Robinson was arrested a few days ago on one count of larceny and five for using another person's identification without consent. These come from the 86 year old patient Anita Morrison. He was released and after leaving court did not say anything which is smart because this kid sounds like an asshole and just made things worse for himself.

The arrest report shows that Robinson used Ms. Morrison's account to make almost $35,000 in towards payment for credit cards and car loans. His lawyer is doing what a lawyer does and defending his client saying that it is just an accusation and that they do not have all of the evidence. The judge ordered Robinson to not possess any drugs, weapons, alcohol, and is banned from practicing any kind of medicine. He also ordered a mental health assessment which makes so much sense considering what this kid has done in the past and would have likely continued in the future. He is on a supervised release and can not contact Ms. Morrison. Robinson believes he has a doctorate because he got it from Ulife Church which is a Christian school...online.
