Shit Just Got Real 11

You ever send a letter to someone or a voice mail and realized way too late that you couldn't take it back? Well, today you can do this but instead of the one person you meant to send it to and their friend they most definitely showed your ramblings to thousands if not millions of people can witness your mistake. With things like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram you can post something and have people you don't know and will never meet, like me, see the kinda bullshit you post.

A PR specialist, which as you keep reading will become far too damned ironic, named Justine Sacco was fired after posting a Tweet. “Going to Africa. Hope I don't get AIDS. Just kidding. I'm white!” She worked at InterActive Corp., a company that also owns Match.com, Dictionary.com, and Vimeo which are all huge companies to work for. She ended up posting an apology after she realized how big a shit storm she'd caused. Of course she's deleted her account since then.

“Words cannot express how sorry I am, and how necessary it is for me to apologize to the people of South Africa, who I have offended due to a needless and careless tweet. There is an AIDS crisis taking place in this country, that we read about in America, but do not live with or face on a continuous basis. Unfortunately, it is terribly easy to be cavalier about an epidemic that one has never witnessed firsthand. For being insensitive to this crisis -- which does not discriminate by race, gender or sexual orientation, but which terrifies us all uniformly -- and to the millions of people living with the virus, I am ashamed. This is my father's country, and I was born here. I cherish my ties to South Africa and my frequent visits, but I am in anguish knowing that my remarks have caused pain to so many people here; my family, friends and fellow South Africans. I am very sorry for the pain I caused.”

Her former company also released a statement. “There is no excuse for the hateful statements that have been made and we condemn them unequivocally. We hope, however, that time and action, and the forgiving human spirit, will not result in the wholesale condemnation of an individual who we have otherwise known to be a decent person at core.”

I read an article with someone half-assed defending this lady and drawing comparisons between her situation and condemnation to the whole Duck Dynasty fiasco where one of the cast members had some homophobic statements released. No. Don't do that. What the guy from that show believes is silly since it involves the belief that a magic man in the sky that created all this (waves arms wide encompassing the world) and that he has made these humans that love their own sex and its a mistake and that therapy and prayer can fix it. What she did was attempt to be funny and failing miserably at it.

If what anything they believe shocks you...welcome to Earth!

I have heard comedians make jokes about all kind of things that would be considered inappropriate. Rape, hitting children, murder. Just everything terrible you can think of. But the worst thing these people can suffer is losing a sponsor or having to issue an apology that isn't really sincere. But this lady is not a comedian. She works in public relations for a very large and well known company. She should've known better but in today's internet world that makes no difference. If you post something publicly that is that fucked up you really need friends to control you internetting since you are bad at it. Want another example of how bad she is at it?

“I had a sex dream about an autistic kid last night.” That's something she wrote as well as insulting Europeans.

She wrote that. I know that I have written shit that people can find and be like “You are a dick!” But you know what? I don't work for a public company. I also plan to never go to Africa. She was on her way there when she wrote that along with shit insulting others. This whole thing will blow over in the news within a week but whenever people see this lady they will think”She looks really familiar...” and I doubt it'll be easy for her to find a job that is close to doing what she used to do.
